Is this Marvel Awards Year? Marvel Considers 18 Names! ...

For the Academy's Consideration, please see below.

Disney's new postings reveal the names of the MCU actors who will be running campaigns for in the Oscar nomination in 2022.

The list, which is available on Disney's official screenings website, includes 18 names from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love and Thunder, and the newly released Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen will be considered in the Best Actor/Actress categories at Marvel Studios' Multiverse of Madness, while Xochitl Gomez, Rachel McAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong, and Michael Stühlbarg all will be considered for their supporting work.

Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman for Best Actor and Actress respectively, and Tessa Thompson, Jaimie Alexander, Christian Bale, Taika Waititi, and Russell Crowe for supporting categories.

And last but certainly not least, the studio submitted Black Panther: Wakanda Forever's Letitia Wright to be considered for a Best Actress nomination, along with Angela Bassett, Danai Gurira, Lupita Nyong'o, Winston Duke, and Tenoch Huerta Meja for Best Supporting Actor/Actress.

Is this the Oscar Year for Marvel?

There is no way all of them will win, or even get a nomination, depending on the sheer number of names Marvel is considering at the Academy Awards. But every studio must adopt this shotgun strategy.

Fans will now wonder who/what has a chance at this year's awards, with just a few exceptions.

Black Panther, one of the few exceptions, had a sequel release this year, and if one of these Marvel Studios films ever receives a nomination in any of the major acting categories or Best Picture, it will most likely be Wakanda Forever (or at least that’s what the odds are).

Black Panther is the studio's only Best Picture nominee to date. However, that may all change this year.

Letitia Wright would most likely pass for her role in Wakanda Forever. The Best Actress category is a little smaller than in recent years, with a couple of strong-hitting performances at the top (Michelle Yeoh in Everything Everywhere All at Once and Cate Blancett in Tar).

While Blanchett's Oscar for Best Actress feels like Blanchett's to lose, Wright might very well have a chance at at least getting a nomination.

The 95th Academy Awards will air on Sunday, March 12, 2023.
