Was Daniel Craig ever in Doctor Strange? ...

Daniel Craig has finally expressed his thoughts about the claims that he once served as a Doctor Strange in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Multiverse of Madness.

While Benedict Cumberbatch's sequel may not have as many Multiverse shenanigans as expected, it did explore one interesting concept – the Illuminati.

The story began with Professor X, Reed Richards, Captain Carter, Captain Marvel, and Master Mordo, who all stayed on Earth-838.

Some previously released concept images included another important character that was intended to be a part of the fun: Balder the Brave. Not only that, but Daniel Craig is said to have played the role.

Craig has an unmistakable affinity to the aforementioned concept art—but the actor has never denied these claims.

Thankfully, this has changed.

Was Daniel Craig ever in Doctor Strange?

Daniel Craig of Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery star spoke out about the notion that he might play a minor role in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in an interview with Happy Sad Confused's Josh Horowitz.

Craig hesitantly replies, "No." When asked if he'd ever heard of Balder the Brave, the character he'd been rumored to play, he asked whether he'd ever heard of him.

Nevertheless, when Horowitz mentioned the alleged Doctor Strange references, the actor took the opportunity to take a sip of his beverage and hide behind the mug.

'I don't know what you're talking about,' he said suspiciously.

Horowitz was not expecting to receive a confirmation from Craig, but he did ask if the actor would be willing to join the MCU in the first place:

Ali Plumb of BBC Radio 1 gave a separate interview about those same allegations, stating that he "[doesn't] know where these [rumors] came from."

Balder the Denier

Craig is unlikely to refute these rumors — after all, that is the Marvel way. Perhaps he even got some advice from Spider-Man actor Andrew Garfield.

Balder's concept art excludes Craig's appearance, that alone is proof enough that he was at least officially considered for the role. Sometimes those artists modify these sketches and keyframes as per the studio's request.

Justin Kroll of The Hollywood Report disclosed that Craig almost completely left the Marvel Cinematic Universe at the time of filming due to a spike in COVID.

Craig has no objections to the MCU, although he appears to be open to working with Marvel Studios.

Honestly, it may only be a matter of time before he joins the party in some capacity.
