The new Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania trailer demonstrates Kang the Conqueror's superpowers.
Kang is a powerful foe connected to the time flow and thus the Multiverse in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, first introduced in the final episode of Loki's first season.
The second teaser for the third installment of the Ant-Man franchise was released on Monday, January 9, and provided an overview of what to expect from this new adversary.
In Ant-Man 3, Kang's True Power
In a new trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Marvel Studios showed the first full look at Kang the Conqueror's full powers.
Kang is seen shooting blueish-white energy from his hands, reflecting it in his eyes, on his face, and on the inner layer of armor on his head and neck.
The energy appears to begin as circular discs of light, then flow forward as more linear beams.
The first glimpse of this shot may be seen in the teaser below, at the 2:08 mark:
What Will Kang's Powers Really Be?
Given the nature of the trailer and Kang's character — both as introduced in Loki and from Marvel Comics — it is plausible that these blasts have some sort of time-altering ability.
In the teaser, Janet Van Dyne claims that Kang "can re-write existence and sever timelines."
Furthermore, the color of Kang's blasts is reminiscent of the time of the Loki Season 1 episode, which is deeply linked to Kang's character as well as the multiverse as a whole.
Kang does not have any superpowers to boast about in Marvel comics. He relies on technology from the future to enhance his abilities, most notably a massive armor suit.
This trailer shot may be showcasing certain abilities, but given the color connection to Loki's timeline, it's possible that the blasts in the trailer are related to the time-manipulation abilities the suit gives the villain in the comics.
Kang may be able to do more than just "re-write existence and shatter timelines," according to the comics; the suit also provides Kang time powers, blasts, weapons, communications, and other things. Who knows what additional MCU Kang might have that is unique from his source material?
