When asked about nepotism, Kaia Gerber does some pretty impressive mental gymnastics ...

The great Hollywood nepotism debate is still alive and well, apparently. Kaia Gerber, the daughter of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, spoke up about the subject and made an insightful observation as well.

In December, Vulture published a piece stating "How a Nepo Baby Is Born," which basically rattled out many of the industry's most notorious legacy families. In response, some so-called nepo babies reacted in the opposite direction — such as singer-songwriter Lily Allen, who quickly came out swinging on Twitter.

Although some benefactors of Hollywood nepotism may be hardworking, they are at least aware that they may have had an easier time achieving their goals than others. However, when Elle asked Gerber whether people make assumptions about her own metric rise in terms of acting and modeling, the 21-year-old seemed to overlook the task.

Gerber's next statement about acting, while true, was even more puzzling:

Is Gerber saying that nepotism would be even more prevalent if Hollywood hired all of the children of celebrities, not just the talented ones who aren't complete monsters to work with?

Gerber still has a few more acting roles on her list, including a recurring role in the upcoming Apple TV miniseries Mrs. American Pie and Elizabeth Banks-produced teen sex comedy Bottoms. Not to mention that she is currently dating newly-minted Oscar nominee Austin Butler, who has exes Jacob Elordi and Pete Davidson.

To be nice, is all we can say, but only marginally affected by nepotism.
