Is Rick and Morty's seventh season the last? ...

Rick and Morty, an adult cartoon series, will have its seventh season without Justin Roiland. This comes after Adult Swim announced that it would cut ties with the show's creator due to recent domestic abuse allegations and leaked DMs containing hate messages.

Adult Swim ensured that the team they have is capable of keeping the show going.

Is Rick and Morty's seventh season going to be the last due to the recent controversy?

Is Rick and Morty's seventh season the last?

Rick showed Morty a portion of his lab with screens showing the progress made in hunting down Rick Prime, the Rick that killed his family. He then welcomes Morty to his "darkness," promising that season seven will focus on "hunting down his foe," while "staying healthy while doing it." At the moment, Adult Swim hasn't confirmed whether season seven would be the last.

Rick Prime is the ultimate big bad that was teased back in season three. He was later mentioned during the season five finale where Morty got to know Rick's background and was first seen during the first episode of season six. It's unknown what agreement Roiland had with Adult Swim in order to continue broadcasting his program but the way season six ended made the way for a final fulfillment.

The plot for the upcoming season has not been revealed. And unless Adult Swim wants to extend the "Rick Prime hunt" story arc to other seasons, ending it in season seven seems appropriate. Fans will have to wait for further information on how the seventh season will be executed.
