M3GAN fully realized its potential of becoming an instant cult classic. Very rarely do incoming films with a wave of momentum, social media buzz, and mountainous volumes of memes live up to expectations.
The sentient killer doll seized the cultural moment, but Gerard Johnston's PG-13 slasher received rave reviews and an even greater enthusiastic response from audiences, and we've not even mentioned that the film has already recouped its production budget ten times over at the box office, was lampooned by Saturday Night Live, and is working on a sequel.
As a general rule, horror franchises go down the crossover route when the creative well is thoroughly dry. However, if Blumhouse's head honcho Jason Blum can make the genius crossover he's promoted on Twitter a reality, we'll likely be talking about the first billion-dollar hit in the genre's long and distinguished history.
Naturally, we doubt that the Royal Family would endorse such a move, nor would the self-exiled Duo Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. However, the couple does have a contract with Netflix to develop original programming, and the latter half of the duo had an extensive acting resume before she decided to put her career on hold.
That's because Harry and M3GAN would be a completely different proposition from the previous docuseries, but it would also be destined to receive a much less hostile reception, because who wouldn't want to see a killer doll play for the crown?
