Nicolas Cage will deliver a Dracula weve never seen before in Renfield, to the delight of nobody ...

The turn of the 20th century and the early 2010s have been two periods in which vampires were all the rage in the entertainment industry. Indeed, from Dracula to Twilight, one would be forgiven for thinking that all creative bases have been covered.

Nicolas Cage is the most likely person to challenge that notion, and if anyone is going to succeed with a fair shake of success, it is also Nicolas Cage. Fortunately, that is the latest endeavor the illustrious actor has undertaken thanks to Renfield, the upcoming comedy horror in which the actor will bring his boundless charisma to the role of the legendary Count Dracula.

Renfield follows the harrowing quest of freedom of the title hero, who's become completely fed up with his co-dependent relationship with Dracula, the infamous narcissist who he's enslaved in modern-day New Orleans. The new relationships he forms threaten to be sabotaged by the Count's intervention.

To be honest, it's a completely different interpretation of the story. Skybound Entertainment CEO David Alpert discussed many vampiric ideas that eventually led to the creation of Renfield in an interview with ScreenRant.

According to what we've seen and heard thus far, screenwriter Ryan Ridley and director Chris McKay have found creative gold with Renfield. Not only did they find the perfect actor to portray this wildly hilarious, unabashedly modern interpretation of history's most famous vampire in Cage, but the trailer also underscores that a whole mythology surrounding vampires is up for ridicule, and we're eager to see what it brings.

Renfield will be released on April 14 in cinemas.
