The third-person mode in Modern Warfare 2 has been removed on January 26, 2023, and has no indication that it will return soon.
It's fair to assume that the mode will be gone for a while, after it was removed from Warzone 2 on January 12, 2023.
In an effort to keep the game fresh, it is possible that the game will just be rotated in and out of the game every so often.
If that is the case, fans may see it reappear in COD MW2 when the next playlist update drops or around the launch of Season 2. Playlist updates usually happen every Thursday.
This major change has come only weeks before the official release date of MW2 Season 2. This new Season will include many requested features.

Why was the Third Person Mode removed from MW2?
Activision has no clue why the 3rd person mode in COD MW2 has been removed, or because to a lack of players or because the fanbase has split.
Despite the fact that many people prefer the third person approach, many have come to the defense of the practice, claiming that they had no issues entering full lobbies.
MW2 will undergo several significant changes, including the reintroduction of a fan-favorite mode. It's possible that the 3rd person mode was shuffled.
The 3rd person mode is still available in private lobbies and has only been removed from public matches.
Private Matches for MW2 3rd Person Mode
To play MW2 in a third-person mode in a Private Match, you must create a Private Match and go into the match settings.
From there, go to the Player tab and scroll down until you see Third Person View. Switch it to On, and you'll be able to play MW2 in third person.
Here are the complete instructions on how to play MW2 in a 3rd person mode in a Private Match:
- Go to Private Match and select Create Private Match
- Select the mode you want to play (Bounty, Team Deathmatch, Domination, etc.)
- Go to Game Setup and select Game Rules
- If the Game Setup option is locked, you will need to wait a few seconds for the Game Code to generate. The Game Setup option should then unlock. If that doesn’t work, you can select CODCASTER and press back.
