The wait is almost over: the BBC has just announced that Series 8 of Inside No. 9 will be available on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer this spring.

The 2022 Christmas special — the macabre and funny The Bones of St. Nicholas, set in a haunted church with a guest star from Simon Callow (A Room with a View) and Shobna Gulati (Dinnerladies) — was the unofficial first episode of Series 8, leaving us with five brand new episodes on the way.

Channeling 1970s Sitcom On The Buses in Series 8 Stories

Shearsmith and Pemberton have delivered, but as always, in their own way, the obvious No. 9 setting – a No. 9 bus – hasn't yet been used by the BBC. One of the new episodes will involve riffing on On The Buses, a 1970s sitcom about two bus depot workers, Stan Butler and Jack Harper.

Robin Askwith, a 1970s actor who has previously appeared in The Madame Blanc Mysteries, has joined Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith in the photo: The new Inside No. 9 episodes will be released in March:

Although this isn't confirmed, Inside No. 9 fans will be delighted to see the next episodes.

The BBC has promised a "mix of horror, thriller, drama, comedy, and surprising twists," with Pemberton and Shearsmith himself describing the new episodes as "funny and frightening."

Guest Cast for Series 8 of The Simpsons

Askwith is just one of many guest stars who have just been announced, including People Just Do Nothing star Asim Choudry, Gavin and Stacey's Mathew Horne, Batman's Leon Herbert, and EastEnders star Phil Daniels.

Anita Dobson, who the BBC recently confirmed as a cast member for Doctor Who Series 14, is another Eastenders legend who will join Series 8.

Samantha Spiro, Moyo Akandé (The Cry) and Claire Rushbrook (My Mad Fat Diary) are just a few of the latest guest stars announced.

Inside No. 9: The Beginning of the End

The latest information on the release date for Series 8 is particularly welcome considering it may be the penultimate ever series of Inside No. 9: Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith have confirmed that the program will be 'paused', potentially for the time being, after Series 9 airs in 2024.

In the meantime, you may delight and be disturbed in equal measure by rewatching all of the previous seven series of Inside No. 9, which are available on BBC iPlayer.

In spring 2023, Inside No. 9 will be released on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer.
