The HBO Max has decided to add a couple more DC programs to its growing list of issues. Titans and Doom Patrol have officially been canceled by Warner Bros. Discovery. Both shows will continue to air on the network at a yet-to-be-determined time, but these season 4 episodes will serve as their final chapters.
While some viewers assumed that the newly appointed DC Studios CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran were to blame for the cancellations as they try to figure out how to proceed with the on screen DC Universe, Gunn took to Twitter to inform followers that this was not their decision.
Gunn wrote on Twitter that the decision to close the series preceded us. "I wish all the best for the talented group of creators, actors, and the rest of the crew that produced both films."
Titans and Doom Patrol escaped the DC Universe subscription deal, but the series appeared to be running on borrowed time from the time WBD took over and began canceling streaming projects, according to Variety. Showrunners both knew that season 4 would be their last for some time, and thus were able to give them "definite endings."
Walker said he's extremely proud of our talented cast, crew, and writing staff who have contributed to the production of all 49 episodes over the previous five years. I'm also deeply grateful for their endless encouragement from the start and from the beginning, Geoff Johns and Akiva Goldsman. Lastly, I must thank our incredible fans for their continued support and dedication to our show. We only have six episodes left to give our beloved characters the creative closure they all deserve.
Thank you for giving us these past four seasons of support, according to Carver. "And of course, what were you smoking?" "And of course, to our brilliant cast, indomitable crew, fearless writing staff, and, most of all, to our wonderful supporters," she added.
Titans and Doom Patrol have both been excellently received, which makes their cancellation even more difficult. Doom Patrol has also been one of the strangest and experimental DC series, surpassed only by Peacemaker and Harley Quinn in terms of "what the hell is happening right now?" moments.
