The Season 2 update for Warzone 2 is expected to give the Fennec 45 a long-awaited makeover, and players believe they have found the SMG that will take its place at the top of the meta.
The battle royale sequel has been dominated by two weapons since Warzone 2 was released in November 2022, among them the RPK LMG's impressive damage output at a distance. The Fennec 45's stunning TTK saw it take the short-range meta.
In Warzone 2 Season 2, nerfs to both guns are expected, with the developers revealing that they're planning a lot of weapon balancing changes for the update. Making the RPK and Fennec less powerful would certainly be a game changer, leaving big shoes to fill in both categories.
The SMG is ready to step up and replace the Fennec if it does get a major nerf, and Warzone 2 players are wishing they'd found it.
According to Reddit user TTVwheezyhayes, the P90, also known in-game as the PDSW 528, has what it takes to be the "next meta SMG." They also included a video to support their claims.
The P90 was capable of dispatching several players in a row at a speed that was apparent in a fast-paced gunfight. While the TTK wasn't quite as fast as the meta Fennec, it was clear that the SMG could more than make up for it in a fast-paced gunfight.
Despite a few concerns about the quality of the enemies they encountered, many other players seemed to agree with OP, anticipating the P90 to become one of Warzone 2's best weapons in the weeks to come.
“Absolutely,” replied one user. “The fennec [is] so difficult to control, [there’s] greater range on the P90, 100 times easier to control, and the movement with it feels better.”
"I always use the P90 for headshots," said WaRcOcK83 of the PDSW 528.
According to WZ Ranked, the P90 is currently sitting on a pick rate of just 0.5 percent, a step away from the popular Fennec at 10.5 percent.
If the Warzone 2 Season 2 update delivers the major improvements we're hoping for, or even a refresh to the P90 itself, don't be surprised to see the classic CoD SMG return in future matches.
