Andy Park, the head of Marvel Studios, has revealed that an upcoming MCU film will serve as a follow-up to Black Widow in 2021.
Scarlett Johansson's original black Widow-centric solo film was unfortunately absent from the MCU slates for Phases 5 or 6, but the topic has received some attention recently as a result of the publication of The Art of Black Widow.
Natasha Romanoff being one of the few seemingly permanent deaths in Avengers: Endgame, a sequel to the 2021 film sounded like a particularly difficult proposition, as it would either be another prequel story or not star Johansson's character.
Fans of Black Widow have now received some exciting information about their favorite spy characters' future.
Will We Get a Black Widow 2?
Andy Park, Marvel Studios Director of Visual Development in an Instagram post promoting the new Art of Black Widow book, said Black Widow would receive a Thunderbolts sequel in 2024.
Park says, "It's like it's a Black Widow sequel, and these films are connected or something!" He then teased that it'll "be interesting."
Fans already knew that the characters Park mentioned (Taskmaster, Red Guardian, Yelena Belova, and Valentina Allegra de Fontaine) would appear in the 2024 film.
Park's implied Black Widow focus isn't the same as before. In Thunderbolts, it was utterly unknown which characters and plots would be preferred over others.
What Will Be the Thunderbolts' Plot?
While Andy Park did not reveal any specific plot information, the fact that the two films will be "connected," with the whole film serving as a "Black Widow sequel," is noteworthy.
The four Black Widow characters that have been confirmed for Thunderbolts will be the main focus of the 2024 film, according to fans. Yelena appears to be gearing up to take on the role of Black Widow in Thunderbolts.
Many have criticized Taskmaster's Black Widow narrative as too generic, unremarkable, and unremarkable. This may mean fans may expect a better narration from the already-confirmed Thunderbolts member.
Fans of Black Widow now have even more reason to be excited about the 2024 Thunderbolts film.
Black Widow is currently available on Disney+, and Thunderbolts will be released in theaters on July 26, 2024.
