James Gunn may have just told us where Keanu Reeves Constantine will make his DCU debut ...

According to what we have learned thus far, James Gunn is committed to re-creating fresh faces for his new franchise in the hopes of ensuring it lasts for many decades to come — even giving old pals like Dave Bautista the boot from their dream roles. However, Keanu Reeves might make his comeback before the 2004 cult Constantine film gets released.

While Superman: Legacy and The Brave and the Bold are great news for Justice League enthusiasts, those who prefer DC's horror side are impressed with the announcement that James Mangold, the filmmaker of Logan/Indiana Jones 5, is in discussions to direct a film about the character. What's more, Gunn just gave us a major clue as the DC Studios Co-CEO has confirmed that Alan Moore's Saga of Swamp Thing run is a major influence.

John Constantine made his comic book debut in Moore's Swamp Thing #37, before his popularity ensured he got his own Hellblazer series. This unlikely duo, and Swampie's role in launching Constantine into the universe, is so iconic in Moore's Swamp Thing that it's easy to imagine Gunn will want to replicate this on-screen. So it stands to reason that Reeves might guest in Constantine 2's director Francis Lawrence.

Gunn may choose not to hire Reeves and continue his plans to cast young actors, but in this situation he would be wise to make an exception — given Keanu's continuing Reevesnaissance — and welcome him back into the fold.
