Fans immediately began envisioning the various roles he might play in Hollywood's other superhero shared universe when James Gunn was named CEO of DC Studios at the same time Dave Bautista said he was done with the Marvel Cinematic Universe following the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
While the actor admitted that he'd never get to play Bane, he did express his desire to star in Superman as the new Lex Luthor, as well as other suggestions including Hugo Strange and Swamp Thing.
Bautista replied by threatening to break hearts when asked by Digital Spy if he ever imagined himself returning to the world of comic book adaptations in the near future.
Bautista does not want to be front-and-center, which would undoubtedly exclude him from many roles that would interest him to be played. A secondary hero, a ruthless villain, or a one-shot is something he is open to under the appropriate circumstances. Let's hope Gunn can create some of that magic.
