Very few films are immune from the prospect of being remade, but there are a few that have simply resisted any and every attempt to make it happen, with Logan's Run being one of the most well-known.

At the time of its release, Logan's Run's film was a huge hit, recouping its production budget almost four times at the box office, and achieving three Academy Award nominations. In fact, the visual effects used to bring the dystopian world to life were so impressive that the Oscars gave it an honorary Special Achievement Award.

The following year, a brief television spinoff was announced, but since the 1990s, plans for a remake have remained unreported. Among those who gave it the old college try are legendary producer Joel Silver, the disgraced Bryan Singer, Top Gun: Maverick‘s Joseph Kosinski, Drive‘s Nicolas Winding Refn, and 47 Ronin's Carl Rinsch.

If you thought we were done, we haven't even mentioned Ex Machina's Alex Garland, Mission: Impossible's Christopher McQuarrie, or the many others who tried and failed to create a fresh spin on Logan's Run. Even Michael Bay, who is hardly the most open, would have gotten the start.

As one of the most-watched features on iTunes, audiences are still eager to see the original, with Michael York's title hero going undercover to try and stop a revolution before becoming its key instigator in the far-flung future of 2274, according to FlixPatrol. Maybe one day it will happen, but history cautions it may not.
