Damon Wayans and Damon Wayans Jr. are on the verge of establishing their first joint sitcom.
According to CBS' official logline, the as-yet-untitled family comedy fronted by the father-son duo has been handed a pilot order on Wednesday. At work, 'Poppa' (Wayans), a legendary talk radio host and happily divorcing father-son, his point of view is questioned at home when a new female co-host is hired.
Kevin Hench, a Last Man Standing veteran, co-wrote the pilot. The duo will executive-produce alongside Wayans Jr.
Wayans and Wayans Jr. have previously played father and son in ABC's classic Happy Endings and CBS' short-lived Happy Together (pictured above), but only on a guest-starring/recurring basis. Wayans Jr. also had a recurring role on his father's ABC sitcom My Wife & Kids in the early 1990s.
Following Elsbeth (a second Good Wife spinoff centered on Carrie Preston's Elsbeth Tascioni), the Wayans family comedy would join a sitcom lineup that includes Bob Hearts Abishola, The Neighborhood, and Young Sheldon, all of which have already been renewed.
