The Zelda franchise is Nintendo's crown jewel, and their upcoming game will be a direct sequel to Breath of the Wild. Practically everybody who owns a Nintendo Switch is looking forward to Tears of the Kingdom, so we've decided to break down the game's release.

Release Dates for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will be released on May 12, 2023 by Nintendo.
Tears of the Kingdom have been teased for a long time, with Nintendo first revealing the sequel to Breath of the Wild at E3 2019.
Nintendo announced a release date for 2022 at E3 2021, which was later pushed back to 2023, giving us the launch date of May 12.

Players may expect some of the main gameplay mechanics and plot details from Tears of the Kingdom to carry over to the sequel to Breath of the Wild.
The Tears of the Kingdom plot is still unknown, but if it happens after the events of Breath of the Wild, it's safe to assume that Zelda will play a bigger role since Link successfully freed her from Calamity Ganon.
It'll be interesting to learn who the antagonist of Tears of the Kingdom might be. Ganon or some variation of the famous Zelda villain may return, but perhaps a fresh threat will arise.
Tears of the Kingdom players can expect the same open-world freedom and depth of exploration as in Breath of the Wild. However, Nintendo will certainly modify some features in the future.
Link's glowing arm is one of the new features, similar to the Sheikah Slate. In addition, the three trailers reveal a ton of weapons, including swords, shields, and axes, that you'll be able to equip to Link.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom trailer, shown above, was released on September 13, 2022. It is the most recent trailer and offers a first look at the gameplay for the forthcoming Nintendo Switch experience.
The teaser provided only a brief glimpse of what's to come, but we do get a brief glimpse of the scenery both across Hyrule and directly below it. Link is seen diving fearlessly from the floating islands above Hyrule to confront the challenges that lie ahead.
