The release date for Modern Warfare 2 Season 2 has been set.

The Call of Duty Team has announced that the Modern Warfare 2 Season 2 update will be released on Wednesday, February 15, 2022. These seasonal updates usually arrive at around 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 6 PM GMT.

The Season 1 Battle Pass timer was set to expire on February 1, which many believed would be the starting date for Season 2. However, the developers have confirmed a two-week delay.

Season 2 of Modern Warfare 2: Ranked Play will be released.

Ranked Play will be released with Season 2, according to the devs, while Modern Warfare 2 will not be released until later in the season as part of the midseason update.

New weapons for Modern Warfare 2 Season 2

The ISO Hemlock Assault Rifle, KV Broadside Shotgun, Dual Kodachis, Crossbow, and the Tempus Torrent Marksman Rifle will be added to Modern Warfare 2 Season 2.

The first three weapons listed above will be available during the Season 2 update on February 15, and you may get them as free rewards in the Battle Pass. The Tempus Torrent Marksman Rifle will also be included in the mid-season lineup.

The Crossbow will require players to complete a series of tasks. The Path of the Ronin event will require players to complete seven tasks to unlock the Crossbow.

The Crossbow has appeared in several recent Call of Duty titles and was usable in the campaign, thus its inclusion is no surprise.

The ISO Hemlock Assult Rifle is a must-have rifle for most players, as it can handle 5.56 and subsonic.300 BLK ammunition. It's a battlefield advantage in any situation, according to Expedite Firearms.

New game modes for Modern Warfare 2 Season 2

In Season 2, Infected, Gun Game, Grind, Drop Zone, All or Nothing, and One in the Chamber will be included alongside the previously announced Hardcore and Ranked Play.

The highly anticipated Gun Game, Infected, and Grind will be updated on day one. Drop Zone, All or Nothing, and One in Chamber will only make their way to the game with the mid-season update.

The Gun Game is a classic Call of Duty party game that puts players in a free-for-all match where they receive a new weapon for each kill. The first player to get a kill with every weapon, usually ending in a unique item, wins.

In Season 2, players may expect the Valentine's Day playlist to return, as well as a new mechanism where Infinity Ward will post a poll on Twitter to allow players to vote on "one of that week's playlists from a rotating pool."

Hardcore Mode for Modern Warfare 2 Season 2

A fully-fledged Hardcore Mode is being added in MW2. Players are unsatisfied with the presence of Tier 1 in Modern Warfare 2.

Tier 1 resembled Modern Warfare 2019, while Hardcore Mode will retain its original identity from previous CoD titles.

New maps for Modern Warfare 2 Season 2

Season 2 of Modern Warfare will include four new maps, including the Valderas Museum, Zaya Observatory, Alik Malik International, and Dome.

Here's how Season 2 maps are broken down:

  • Dome (6v6)
  • Valderas Museum (6v6)
  • Zaya Observatory (Battle Map)
  • Al Malik International (Battle Map)

The Battle Maps for Al Malik International and Zaya Observatory will be refreshed.

In the meantime, players will recognize Valderas Museum from the Modern Warfare 2 beta. The map was removed from the game prior to the launch and makes its appearance in Season 2.

Dome is well-known among Call of Duty enthusiasts, as it "has a striking resemblance to one of Call of Duty's iconic maps."

With the Season 2 update, a remake of the classic Castle map has already been confirmed. The leaked images of Castle corresponded to the new Ashika Island Resurgence map for Warzone 2.

Ronin Operator in Modern Warfare 2 Season 2

In Modern Warfare 2, a familiar face is returning, as the Season 2 key art revealed that Ronin will join the Season 2 update.

Call of Duty lovers have been vocal about wanting real military-based Operators in Modern Warfare 2, and Ronin falls into this category.

The 2nd installment of Modern Warfare 2 is a sequel to Modern Warfare 2.

Season 2 will release Episode 2 after players got a taste of Modern Warfare 2 Raids with Atomgrad. However, this new Raid Episode will be released later in Season 2.

With Episode 2 of the Raid, a continuation of the Modern Warfare II campaign, Price, Farah, and Gaz will return later in Season 02.

Season 2 of Modern Warfare 2 will receive a UI refresh.

The interface in Modern Warfare 2 has been a major concern for gamers since the Beta, but the developers have been thoughtful and are making some changes in the Season 2 update.

These include the following changes:

  • Improved navigation and organization of Camo menu
  • More polished Social tab, including improved channel swapping and player muting
  • New “My Bundles” screen
  • Quick equip items from Battlepass, My Bundles, and Store
  • Reticle previews in Store and Gunsmith
  • Improved clarity of attachment blocking logic in Gunsmith
  • And many more bug fixes

Perk Balancing for Modern Warfare 2 Season 2

The devs state in their Season 2 blog that they have been listening to feedback from the community on the "timing of bonus Perks," more specifically, Ghost.

To alleviate the need for players to receive both Bonus and Ultimate Perks, the club has decided to shorten the time it takes to get them. Players will receive Ghost sooner in matches, which they feel helps those who want to play more aggressively.

Audio issues for Modern Warfare 2 have been addressed.

Modern Warfare 2's audio occlusion system will be replaced with a "newer and more advanced system." This should make it easier for players to hear enemies and other audio cues through objects like walls.
