With the arrival of Season 2, Warzone 2 will likely receive new content, and here's all we know so far about Warzone 2 Season 2, including the release date, the return of Resurgence, upgrades to looting, and more content.
The Warzone 2 developers keep the game fresh with seasonal updates that bring new content for players to check out, and Season 1 Reloaded brought the Chimera Assault Rifle along with weapon buffs and nerfs.
Players are now looking forward to the next significant content release in Warzone 2 Season 2. This is likely to be the largest Warzone 2 patch to date, as the developers are making a number of significant gameplay changes to improve the game's state.
We'll discuss the start date for Warzone 2 Season 2, information about the Ashika Island Resurgence map, weapons, a new operator, and all of the content from the update.

The start date for Warzone 2 Season 2 has been set.
Activision have announced that Season 2 of Warzone 2 would be postponed until February 15, 2023, while the Season 1 countdown will begin on February 1.
Seasonal content is usually available at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 6 PM GMT, and we'd expect Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 Season 2 to be no exception.
Walk the Ronin's Path: A Launch Event
Season 2 of Warzone is getting a new event that will require operators to complete seven challenges in Warzone 2 or Modern Warfare 2. Completing these challenges will reward players with weapons screens and charms.
Players may receive the new Crossbow weapon by completeing all seven challenges.
Ashika Island Resurgence Map in Warzone 2
Ashika Island is Warzone 2's new Resurgence map, which, according to the blog, is located "somewhere in the APAC (Asia Pacific) region." The map includes a variety of POIs that all offer different layouts for varied battles.
The new Resurgence map includes a World at War castle map, which will certainly excite experienced Call of Duty players.
Tsuki Castle, Beach Club, and Shipwreck are some of the more well-known POIs. Ashika Island was created by High Moon Studios, who were the developers of Fortune's Keep back in the original Warzone, so if you like that map, you'll enjoy this one.
Players on Ashika Island will be able to "Restore Honor" by collecting dog tags that are dropped when Operators die on the new map. If they or their teammates collect these tags, they will receive a "small Cash reward, as well as a single UAV ping that marks both enemy threats and nearby Supply Boxes."
Ashika Island Contract for New Warzone 2: Search & Seizure
In-season, the new Warzone 2 map will also have its own contract, Search and Seizure. This involves players returning a stolen vehicle from the Shadow Company on the island.
Completeing the task will grant a healthy Cash reward and other items, as well as neutralize Shadow Company forces protecting the vehicle. Players must pick up a key lost by one of the soldiers and return the vehicle to the drop-off point.
Data Heist is a New Public Event.
In Season 2, Warzone 2 will feature a new public event on Ashika Island. During the second circle collapse, players will be required to download information from them while fending off the Shadow Company.
If you succeed in a match, you will be awarded "XP, cash, and a random piece of Tactical Equipment." If you succeed in two Data Heists in a match, you will be given "increased rewards," such as a random Killstreak or even an Advanced UAV."
Drones are being redeployed.
Players may hop on these exclusive Resurgence Redeploy Drones on Ashika Island to get around the map nice and fast. Hook up to the cable and ascend, as you reach the top, flying off in the direction you are facing.
If the drones are in the zone, they will often return to a safe location after time, but not all of them, as many will go out of service when several circles collapse.
Rusher, a new AI combatant, has been released.
A new AI Combatant named the Rusher will be introduced in-season and exclusively to Resurgence on Ashika Island.
“Expect them to hit the ground running in Resurgence mode, with AI only appearing in certain situations, such as during a Data Heist.”
Update on the Al Mazrah map
A plane has crashed in the Sattiq Caves Complex POI, which resembles a familiar wreckage from the original Modern Warfare 2 game, named Afghan.
A New Personal Watercraft Vehicle
In Warzone 2 Season 2, a new vehicle for water travel is revealed. The PWC (Personal Watercraft Vehicle) is the "ATV of the Sea," a fast and easy automobile with little to no protection that can accommodate two players.
Changes to Warzone 2 looting and gulag
Infinity Ward have confirmed in a blog post that the Warzone 2 Season 2 update will bring 1v1 Gulags back to the battle royale, replacing the 2v2 approach used for the new Warzone experience. This change has been requested by players for some time, and will finally be introduced in Season 2.
Looting is also getting some significant changes, as the developers have announced that they would return to the original method of looting popping out onto the floor after looting containers and eliminating players.
In an effort to reduce the amount of players stacking Killstreaks and other equipment, the Medium and Large Backpack items will also be no longer available. Players will all begin the match wearing a 3-Plate Vest, thus they will be removed from the loot pool.
They added that cash will be readily available and that additional pricing adjustments will be made to give players more bang for their buck.
Changes to the loadout in Warzone 2 have been confirmed.
One of Warzone 2 Season 2's most significant improvements is the introduction of customizable Perk Packages, which allow players to customize their loadout to suit their playstyle. Currently, there are only a handful of premade Perk Packages to choose from, with no option to swap individual options.
The feature will "launch with a somewhat reduced pool of available Perks," but the developers have restricted that they may gradually reintroduce more over time. This is an effort to ensure that matches remain balanced, although there is no word just yet on which Perks will be available.
For the first time, Infinity Ward has stated that they are "happy" with the introduction of Loadout Drop Markers, but that they will lower the prices slightly with the next update. These items will also be lootable around the map, but the developers warn that they will be extremely rare.
The cost of individual Primary weapons is also being reduced, giving squads of all sizes a greater likelihood of picking up at least one of their own weapons.
In Season 2, the Warzone 2 Combat Record will be available.
As part of Season 2's launch, the Combat Record for Warzone 2 will officially go online. This allows players to see their stats from the battle royale, allowing them to compare and focus on things.
In Season 2, there will be five new Warzone 2 weapons.
During the course of Warzone 2 Season 2, the developers will bring a total of five new weapons: a list of them, their arrival time, and the way players will unlock them:
- ISO Hemlock Assault Rifle – ISO Platform(Launch, Battle Pass)
- KV Broadside Shotgun – Kastov Platform (Launch, Battle Pass)
- Dual Kodachis Melee Weapon (Launch, Battle Pass)
- Crossbow Marksman Rifle (Launch Window, challenge unlock or store)
- Tempus Torrent Marksman Rifle (Midseason)
Operator for Warzone 2 Season 2
Ronin will be the brand-new Operator for Warzone 2 Season 2 according to the developers. Ronin has returned from Modern Warfare 2019.
Ronin, based on real-life US Army Veteran Tu Lam, who provided motion capture for the character, made his debut in Modern Warfare 2019. He returns in Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 Season 2, portraying a samurai appearance.
New DMZ content
The Warzone 2 developers have also released a blog revealing the new DMZ content, including a visit to Ashika Island. Similar to Building 21, players will be going to Ashika Island for the new Exclusion Zone.
Crown, a new Faction exclusive to MW2 owners, will offer "additional intrigue alongside a refresh of familiar missions and their rewards," as well as new permanent unlocks, such as Operator Skins and Weapon Blueprints.
On Ashika Island, players will face a new boss, the Bombmaker, who holds a new Weapons Case for Season 2, which includes "all-new permanent rewards for operators."
