Sony is predicted to sell over ten million PS5 consoles during the 2023 holiday season. Yes, we're already talking about Christmas. However, Sony expects to sell about 10.5 million PS5 units in the third quarter of FY 2023 (that's October, November, and December this year).
The new console model, called "PS5 Slim," may increase console sales.
Sony disclosed that it only shipped (which is different from "sold") 7.1 million PS5 consoles during last year's holiday season, compared to the previous year's.
This 10.5 million figure is based on the upcoming "PS5 Slim," which is expected to be in production by April 2023 and available for purchase around September 2023. The new PS5 model with a detachable disc drive will reportedly replace the current ones, although the disc drive may not be compatible with the PS5 digital version.
Sony expects to sell over 30 million PS5 consoles in the entirety of FY 2023, roughly double the amount it sold previously in the United Kingdom, in part because to better console supply. So, Sony's optimistic prediction isn't too far off the mark.
