Fans of Hogwarts Legacy criticize the lack of pale and Asian skin tone in character creation ...

Several threads on the Hogwarts Legacy Reddit have criticized the game for a lack of pale skin tones in character creation. Some enthusiasts want to be able to recreate themselves (or some alternate version of Draco Malfoy), but the options aren't there yet.

Poor lighting may be to blame for the absence of pale skin tones in Hogwarts Legacy.

Some enthusiasts are disappointed that the palest skin tone options are several shades darker than their own skin color when combing through the two Reddit threads on the subject (here and here). Both threads were temporarily removed, likely due to their controversial nature, but they were restored by a moderator.

One user who self-describes as "English and pale" hoped that the game would have better represented this section of the population. Another user from "the very northern part of a Nordic country" writes that "the skin colors are nowhere near my real life white, vampire-like, near translucent skin." Another player also points to the absence of darker skin tone in Asian characters.

Some others have responded by stating that the lighting in the character creator is to blame, and that the character appears more tan there than in the game. Either way, many are asking Avalanche Software to include darker skin tones in a future patch.

On the other hand, the game's character design has been praised for allowing for a wider range of hairstyles, with one popular tweet stating that it achieves "black folks' hair."
