Hawkeye, the Disney Plus miniseries that introduced Kate Bishop to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, was among Phase Four's most sleep-on projects, as Jeremy Renner's Clint Barton and Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova.
Indeed, repurposing the powerful superpowers for a more grounded, street-level crime thriller was an interesting change of pace from what we normally see out of the MCU, and as the franchise grows more adventurous with the spaces it occupies, it will be interesting to see how the formula evolves from here.
Echo, a Hawkeye spinoff, is likely to have the fruits of her efforts. Alaqua Cox will reprise her role as the eponymous former commander of the Tracksuit Mafia, who returns to her Oklahoma hometown to reconnect with her Native American heritage through her community. However, Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin does not appear to be going to be a total quiet outing.
Whether peaceful or not, the MCU is reportedly going to have a completely different hue. Echo producer Stephen Broussard teased a much more personal tone, one that might very well lead the series to entirely unknown waters in terms of the MCU.
In Hawkeye, Cox starred alongside her other leading players, so we're infinitely interested to see what she does with the majority of the spotlight. Combine that with Echo's completely different path for the MCU, and it easily cements itself as a series to keep an eye on.
