In a blink, the debate over who should play live-action Thrawn in Star Wars is over ...

A new series of Star Wars shows is bringing long-dead characters to life for the first time.

Ezra Bridger and Sabine Wren will be switched from animation to live-action in the future, following in the footsteps of other favorites like Ahsoka Tano and Cad Bane, who made their live-action debuts in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. Star Wars fans are naming their names for some of the most anticipated characters.

After it was discovered that Thrawn's ideal actor was identified years ago, a debate about who would best portray Grand Admiral Thrawn in live action ended before it truly began.

The discussion started with a comment on Reddit's Star Wars sub, and ended just a few hours later with a second, much more popular response post. The first asked viewers to name their "top actor" for Thrawn, and included a number of photos depicting the character's blue skin and crisp white uniform on several potential actors, all of whom look unusually like the vicious Chiss officer.

Lars Mikkelsen, the brother of Mads Mikkelsen, is an established member of the Star Wars family, and many fans believe he should just make the switch to live-action.

ChemicalAu, a user of the internet, suggested a far more popular strategy, arguing that "the perfect Thrawn was cast years ago." Attached was a photograph of one of the media's most famous blue men, and a hilarious — but terrifying — choice for the Empire's intimidating Admiral.

Tobias Fünke, David Cross's character in Arrested Development, quickly outperforms the Thrawn alternatives. In "The One Where Michael Leaves," the character paints himself blue in an effort to attract attention from the Blue Man Group. Cross pulls off the blue look spectacularly and prompted Star Wars fans to joke about a Fünke-style Thrawn performance.

Fans were intrigued by the idea of Cross as Thrawn, and many imagined a bloody Admiral's outfit that could be ruined by a pair of itty bitty shorts.
