When it comes to directing the blockbuster sequel Kingsman: The Golden Circle, creative freedom can be both a blessing and a curse.

The second installment in the offbeat espionage franchise may have earned an almost identical box office total compared to its predecessor after topping out at $411 million, but the wheels were already wobbling. It felt as if the film was overly ambitious, and that self-indulgence became a frequent occurrence throughout the mind and butt-numbing running time.

The Golden Circle had lost the surprise factor that made its predecessor The Secret Service a breath of fresh air, so Vaughn's obvious counterpoint was to go for broke in terms of sheer excess. Some things went, some others didn't, and there was simply too much going on at all times. The reaction to The King's Man, which was apathetic, suggests that the entire universe is running out of gas.

According to FlixPatrol, Taron Egerton's Eggsy's sophomore appearance is proving to be quite popular with Disney Plus subscribers after it returned to the platform's worldwide watchlist in the best and worst ways. Having the ability to breathe once in a while would have enormously benefited the final product.
