There are a slew of side quests to complete around Hogwarts and the surrounding world in Hogwarts Legacy. Many are considered relationship quests because they determine your status with the other students at the school. However, there are others that carry on, such as the Moth to the Frame quest, which requires you to complete certain tasks while you wander around the grounds. Restoring the moths allows you to earn rewards for your Field Guide tasks. Here's a guide on where to locate each one
Where can I find all the Moth to the Frame picture locations in Hogwarts Legacy?
These moth pictures are hidden all over Hogwarts and outer locations, waiting for their moths to be returned to them. Shining your Lumos light will reveal an image for you to track down a moth and return it to the frame. Because there isn't a clear local map, you'll want to pay attention to your compass and utilize your Revelio as much as possible to help locate them. Here are some of the locations to look for:
The side quest with Lenora will take place at the Central Hall location. She will say she's been trying to figure it out and will ask for your help. The photograph is hanging on the wall just opposite the library entrance and to the left of the central fountain. If you haven't yet completed the side quest, Lenora will still be standing in front of it. The missing moth is located just down and to the left of the stairs.
Another moth image is located on the second floor of the library. It is hidden in the upper right corner. It's much easier to locate it with Revelio because there are so many bookcases and rows. Also, look for the large photograph on the opposite side of the upper floor.
This picture is just outside The Great Hall. If you use the Floo to teleport to The Great Hall, you will find it just inside the corridor before, under the large Hogwarts banner. The moth will be just a little further inside The Great Hall on the Headmaster's podium.
Another picture shows a moth right outside the DADA Classroom. It's a long and winding staircase of floors that can be confusing. The best approach to getting to the DADA Tower is to take Floo to the DADA Tower.
The moth picture may be seen first in the History of Magic classroom. Follow the Floo to the Bell Tower Courtyard, then climb the left stairs and through the doors until you reach the North Hall. The picture can be seen from the entrance opposite the door and on the wall in the History of Magic classroom.
The sphinx statue is in a plant vase in the corner near the window. Return down the stairs and into the History of Magic Classroom. You'll need to have Alohomora to unlock the door behind the professor's desk.
Hogsmeade has a slew of surprises, including some hidden moth pictures. These ones are a bit lower to the ground, but you can still easily find them using Revelio and looking for the blue outline. You'll find one just across the path from the building where you can find its moth.
Another shot of the moth will be visible at the back of a nearby building with large kegs against the side.
In the Slytherin Dungeons, you'll discover another fame. Go to the Viaduct Courtyard, climb the steps, and enter the entrance hall. At the bottom, go right, then left. And before the archway is the frame on your left.
Head left, then right up the corridor, continue going up the corridor, and take the second left until you see a painting on your right. The moth is next to the painting.
At the bottom of Ravenclaw Tower, a second frame may be seen. If you have the Ravenclaw Tower Floo Flame, go left, pass the Animal Symbol door on your right, and descend the stairs.
If not, teleport to the Central Hall Floo Flame. From there, climb the stairs, and finish before the big entrance leading to the bridge with the brazier puzzle. At the door go right, and climb the stairs on your left, then again on your left until you exit a door on your left.
To find the moth, climb up the steps opposite the frame and back to the Animal Symbol door. At the top of the stairs, right in front of you on your right, is the moth.
The Astronomy Tower Floo Flames are unlocked. Just walk up the stairs to the top of the archway, then look to your left to find the frame.
The moth is located a bit further up the staircase at the very top of the Astronomy Tower. Look to the left toward the chalkboard, and you will find the moth.
While attempting to reach the West Tower via the Pungent Passage, you'll see this moth picture. Look to the right on the wall, and you'll see a picture of a centaur tapestry.
Continue down the hall to the West Tower Floo and look left. You'll see the large centaur tapestry on the wall, and the moth is right on it.
The easiest way to find this frame is to go to the Viaduct Courtyard Floo. Continue straight and to the right along the stone wall until you reach the werewolf statue. Turn to the right and ascend one set of stairs to see the moth picture hanging there.
The moth shown in this photograph must be returned to the Floo location. Continue up two sets of stairs to the left, and you'll see an archway to your left where a mermaid-like horse statue is tucked away. The moth is right on the wall beside it.
This hidden frame is located near the Dogweed & Deathcap shop on the northwestern edge of Hogsmeade towards the suburbs. You may see it by the mushroom icon shown on your map. As soon as you enter the shop, look to the left, and it's leaning against a few planters.
The photo shows a chimney peeking over a hill. To locate the moth, exit the shop and walk back down a small hill. You'll need to climb up some rocks and a small hill to find the moth.
These are just a few of the most well-known moth picture locations right now. We aren't sure how many there are in total, but we'll keep updating this page as we learn more, so keep checking back.
