As a new point of view feature will be introduced in the Modern Warfare 2 beta, Call of Duty enthusiasts will be able to revisit a third-person experience.

The Call of Duty Next event revealed a slew of information regarding Modern Warfare 2s multiplayer. While there is a lot to be excited about, like the new Gunsmith and Perk systems, there is still a lot of new content to look forward to.

Players who accessed files from the Modern Warfare 2 beta were leaked a third-person option prior to the Call of Duty Next event. This information was later confirmed at Call of Duty next as Modern Warfare 2 will include a third-person mode.

Modern Warfare 2 is the only Call of Duty title with a fully functional and legit third-person mode since 2009. In an interesting twist of events, Infinity Ward decided to revive the third-person feature for 2022s Modern Warfare 2.

The Call of Duty franchise is well-known for its iconic first-person gameplay. For years, it has pushed the boundaries in the FPS genre. However, players familiar with 2009's Modern Warfare 2 may recall the Third Person Team Tactical mode, which provided a rare change of pace for players.

Modern Warfare 2 will provide a similar third-person experience for gamers in 2022, and it will continue to expand after the launch. The developers stated their long-standing desire to deliver the mode: Weve always wanted to do third-person.

In the Hardpoint mode, a third-person perspective will be available in the Modern Warfare 2 beta.

Following the beta, the developers intend to extend third-person to other modes, and have hinted that Warzone 2 will be included.

Fans of classic third-person shooters such as Fortnite, Gears of War, and Mass Effect will be ecstatic when the feature returns to the Call of Duty franchise after a long absence.

This may not come as a surprise to some since settings for a third-person option were leaked on September 14 ahead of the Modern Warfare 2 beta release date. Nonetheless, dev confirmation is always welcome.
