Sebastian appeared to be a shifty character in the lead-up to Hogwarts Legacy. Just look at this tense teaser where the player prepares to cast Unforgivable Curses at each other. The player and Sebastian certainly don't get off on the right foot, but is Sebastian following a long line of Slythrins to go rogue and evil? Here's whether or not you can trust Sebastian or if he will punch you in the back.
In Hogwarts Legacy, can you trust Sebastian?
Sebastian and you meet him in a class called Defense Against the Dark Arts, in which you and Sebastian must deal. In a scene similar to Harry Potter's duel against Draco Malfoy, both of you exchange spells with each other. Shortly after class, the player can join a secret dueling club where you and Sebastian can join forces against other students.
A short while later, you can choose Sebastian or Natty, a fellow Gryffindor to accompany you to Hogsmead. While it doesn't make much of a difference from a gameplay standpoint, it adds new layers to yours and Sebastian's growing friendship? Instead of finding your Draco, you found your Ron Weasley.
So can Sebastian be trusted in Hogwarts Legacy? Later, Sebastian helps you sneak into the Restricted Section of the Library. Rather than letting you both get in trouble, Sebastian chooses to distract the librarian and let you escape. Talk about friends.
Is Sebastian on the verge of the Dark Side?
Sebastian, like Slythrins before him, feels the pull of the dark side, and should not go too far into spoiler territory, things become more complicated. But in a way, he's a tragic character in a way. He wants to help his sister Anne, and it's that desire to help his family that fuels much of the later emotional scenes.
Sebastian ultimately breaks the mold when it comes to the nasty Slythrins that were depicted in Harry Potter book series and films.
