When can you upgrade and expand the Vivarium in Hogwarts Legacy?

It is important to note that a Vivarium cannot be upgraded. Any room may be expanded or opened up to more rooms. Each room you open will provide additional vantage points for your beasts to roam around without worrying about poachers roaming around Hogwarts.

The other rooms in the Vivarium are also possible when you complete side quests. These three locations are only available when you complete Hogwarts Legacy side quests.

The Coastal Vivarium unlocks when you complete the Plight of the House-Elf side quest, where you assist Deek in looking for his friend. The Grassland Meadow Vivarium unlocks when you complete the Phoenix Rising side quest. The final location, the Swamp Vivarium, becomes available when you complete the Foal of the Dead side quest.

Don't be too concerned about missing out on these Vivarium upgrades. Instead, we suggest focusing on the main story of Hogwarts Legacy and naturally finding them while you play the game.
