Elliot Gindi committed several offences on February 7, according to Twitter user @FretCore, including predatory behavior and threats of suicide. Eventually, a majority of the Genshin Impact community had voted for Gindi to be fired, and for HoYoverse to replace him with another voice actor for the role Tighnari.
Thankfully, all signs are leading towards the replacement of Gindi, as several HoYoverse sources seem to suggest. Chris Faiella, the voice director for Genshin Impact, posted a Twitter thread sympathizing with the victims, before continuing to state his intention to rectify the situation, saying, "He'll do everything [he] can, using what [he] has, to rectify the situation," and "he'll inform the miHoYo board."
HoYoverse issued an official letter to Kotaku, expressing their desire to find a solution. "We deeply regret the suffering and damage that occurred to our fans, gamers, and those affected." Both our internal teams and external partners, including our voice acting studio, have been working together to achieve a speedy solution. We'll keep you updated on the progress.
This is excellent news, and there is precedent for the situation as well. Gindi was previously dismissed by HoYoverse due to accusations leveled against him, before later replacing his voices. Other Genshin Impact voice actors had previously retaliated against her, including Yoimiya's voice actress Jenny Yokobori and the male Traveler's voice actor Zach Aguilar.
