In Hogwarts Legacy, you must advance the main story until you reach the main quest, The Caretaker's Lunar Lament.
Gladwin Moon, the Hogwarts' caretaker, will teach you Alohomora so that you may enter the Hogwarts Faculty Tower through a locked door.
With Alohomora, you will be able to explore Hogwarts and the open world once you complete The Caretaker's Lunar Lament.
To upgrade your Alohomora Spell to level 3, you will need to upgrade it to level 3 unlike in all of the other spells in Hogwarts Legacy. However, you do not use talent points to upgrade Alohomora.
Make sure you have space in your inventory when unlocking chests for rare loot. If you're pressed for space, increase the amount of gear you may carry in Hogwarts Legacy!
How to Increase the Alohomora Lockpick Spell
As part of the side quest The Man Behind the Moons, you must bring Demiguise statues to Gladwin Moon to upgrade Alohomora in Hogwarts Legacy.
- Return 9 Demiguise statues to unlock Alohomora Level 2
- Return 22 Demiguise Statues to unlock Alohomora Level 3
Gladwin Moon can be found in the Hogwarts Faculty Tower, where he first taught you Alohomora.

In Hogwarts Legacy, How to Open Locked Doors & Chests
In Hogwarts Legacy, you must have the Alohomora spell at the required level for that particular lock, climb up to it, and press the unlock button.
After that, you must complete a minigame where you must flick a green and a red spark to open the lock.
- Find a locked door or chest
- Make sure your Alohomora is at the required level
- Press the interact button to start the unlocking minigame

- Start by slowly rotating the green spark with the left analog stick until it starts moving the gears in the bottom right of the screen
- Carefully determine the position you need to put the green spark in to make the gears rotate
- Once you have found it, hold the left analog stick in the direction which moves the gears
- While keeping the left stick for the green spark held, start slowly rotating the right analog stick to move the red spark
- The correct position for the red spark will make the gears in the center of the screen rotate
- Hold the right analog stick so that the red spark is in the position which moves the gears
- Finally, hold both analog sticks in the correct places, and the lock should open!
