Ncuti Gatwa of i>Sex Education/i> Teases a Potential Exit Following Season 4's 'Last Day, Last Time' ...

Is Eric Effiong's time on Sex Education overdue? According to actor Ncuti Gatwa's recent social media post, they may.

On a photo of his trailer, he captioned it on Instagram: "Last day. Last time." "Bye bubs, thank you for all the lessons and for all the strength."

"My heart hurts tremendously," wrote his costar Aimee-Lou Wood of the post.

Netflix has reached out to TVLine for further information.

Despite the news that Gatwa will take over as the new Doctor on the BBC's long-running sci-fi program Doctor Who, it was announced last year that he would also return to Sex Ed for its upcoming fourth season. However, the amount of episodes he will be appearing in remains to be seen.

Patricia Allison (who plays Ola), Tanya Reynolds (Lily), Simone Ashley (Olivia) and Rahkee Thakrar (Mooredale Secondary teacher Emily Sands) have all been confirmed as leaving the program.

Asa Butterfield (Otis), Gillian Anderson (Jean), Wood (Aimee), Kedar Williams-Stirling (Jackson), Mimi Keene (Ruby), Chinenye Ezeudu (Vivienne), Alistair Petrie (Michael) and Samantha Spiro (Maureen) have all been confirmed to the series. (See first photos here.)

Season 4 of Sex Education is expected to return sometime in 2023.
