The first Star Wars series for preschoolers, Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures, will premiere on Thursday, May 4 — as in Star Wars: May the 4th Be With You Day — both on Disney Junior (time slot TBA) and Disney+.

The animated Lucasfilm series takes place during the High Republic period and follows Jedi younglings as they study the Force, explore the galaxy, assist citizens and creatures in need, and acquire valuable skills necessary to become Jedi along the way. (The still above shows Master Yoda with Jedi younglings Kai, Lys and Nubs, and their friends Nash and droid RJ-83 on the planet Tenoo.)

James Waugh, Jacqui Lopez, and Josh Rimes, who directed Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures, are the showrunner.

“Star Wars is a timeless classic, with its enchanting worlds, mythic tales, and unique characters,” says Waugh, who is SVP of Lucasfilm's Franchise Content & Strategy. “The creative team never stopped thinking about how this program might be a 'youngster's' first step toward a larger world, and their first experience of the endless possibilities of the Star Wars galaxy.”
