Even non-fans of the Harry Potter franchise know the Wingardium Leviosa spell, but the Levioso spell is somewhat less well-known.

Both the essence and the use of these spells are basically the same, but in a sense, they serve different purposes to wizards and witches who wish to use them.

Continue reading our guide if you want to learn more about what these spells do and how they differ from each other in Hogwarts Legacy.

In Hogwarts Legacy, there are differences between Levioso and Wingardium Leviosa.

Levioso is the most recent, obsolete form of the Wingardium Leviosa spell, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have its uses; quite the opposite.

In Hogwarts Legacy, Levioso acts as an outstanding combat weapon. It's here, back in Professor Hecate's class, so you can use it in combat by lifting opponents off the ground and keeping them levitated, allowing you to bombard them with a wide array of different spells.

If you encounter an enemy who has a yellow shield, you may cast the Levioso spell to break it and leave them vulnerable to incoming attacks.

Professor Garlick's Assignment teaches you a little later. It's a new and improved version of Levioso that allows you to make various objects fly in the air and move around as well. You can cast the spell and predict which direction they'll crash.

Wingardium Leviosa has a significant drawback, because it is unable to control inanimate objects. Unlike Levioso, it is able to suspend living beings up in the air.

In Hogwarts Legacy, how do I get the Levioso spell?

The very first Defense Against the Dark Arts class taught by Professor Hecate unlocks Levioso early on in the campaign.

Professor Hecate intervenes and stops a dragon skull from falling to the ground using the Levioso spell after a brief discussion with the students.
