The shared superhero universe everyone completely forgot about is remarkablely still alive ...

Kevin Feige's quest to change the face of cinema forever has resulted in a history of failed attempts at constructing shared universes that would compete with Marvel Studios' all-conquering franchise, and it appeared that Valiant's attempts to get involved in the game were likely to fail at the first hurdle.

Vin Diesel's Bloodshot had the dismal fortune of being scheduled for a theatrical release in March of 2020, but it was instead shuffled onto VOD almost immediately, and it drew in decent numbers on demand, and the director teased a sequel, the trail has been cold for three years.

Emily Carmichael, the screenwriter for Faith, came as a surprise, since not a lot of people saw the Valiant saga rising from the ashes in a phoenix-like manner after Bloodshot was received with a shrug more than anything else.

As Paramount puts its weight into the superhero sandbox, Harbinger hasn't heard a hint out of Diesel for a while, though maybe the mythology will be better off without him, given that Fast & Furious has been plagued by claims that the chrome-domed producer loves throwing his weight around for his own benefit.

Do we need another universe filled with costumed crimefighters? Probably not, but the jury remains to determine if Valiant will even get as far as spawning one at the start.
