Hogwarts Legacy, a video game developed by Avalanche Software, has been released right now for purchase in all 50 states, despite it being possibly the most controversial title ever to be released. But why would you?
The price is ridiculous (some might even refer to it as daylight robbery), but there's no hiding the avalanche of outrage that Hogwarts Legacy has faced, especially when all proceeds go to Harry Potter creator J. K. Rowling, who has had nothing but close-minded bigotry to lash out at the transgender community. That's why the LGBTQ+ community is boycotting the game and pleading for others to do the same.
Fortunately, for anyone who refuses to give up Rowling's transphobic hatred with stacks of money, there are alternatives to using it responsibly that won't result in setting it ablaze and seeing it burn right before your very eyes. Instead, let's focus on supporting independent developers who produce LGBTQ+-friendly content (and a lot of it!) at a much more affordable price. Plus, you'll be supporting up-and-coming queer developers.
Nathalie created the site in 2013 to write about small games in ways that weren't being served by other publications.” The all-new "Trans Witches are Witches" bundle, which takes the concept of witches and wizards and makes it more accessible and worthwhile for queer people, has just become available for purchase at the same rate as Hogwarts Legacy. Except this time, instead of one overpriced game that fills the pockets of a bigot, "Trans Witches are Witch
The collective project is described on the official launch page, where interested parties may purchase the bundle, as "A bundle of witchcraft and wizardry without the transphobia, antisemitism, and alt-right grifters." Curated by KRITIQAL, all proceeds from every purchase are split equally among each creator, which is a much better investment than funding J. K. Rowling's hatred.
The "Trans Witches are Witches" bundle contains over $300 worth of LGBTQ+ magic games, music, and other items (all priced at $60) from February 10 to February 24 (or someone else) who will appreciate you (or transgender people) for your entire existence.
