Justin Lin enraged Fast and Furious fans everywhere when he announced his retirement from the franchise's most anticipated tenth film just days after production began. Prior to his announcement, Lin had directed five films for the Fast and Furious franchise, the most recent being F9.
Lin's departure was announced by close sources that he would remain as producer. Despite the report, neither party denied the allegations. By May 2022, Louis Leterrier would take the lead as Fast X director.
Leterrier discusses what it was like to direct Fast X shortly after Lin's departure in a recent interview with Total Film. The 49-year-old explained how bizarre it was to direct it.
Leterrier described his first few minutes in the director's seat as "daunting" because he was not fully prepared. Despite his difficulties, the filmmaker said the whole experience was "amazing."
The official Fast X trailer and pre-sale tickets were released to the general public after Leterrier's admission about his experiences on the set.
After the teaser's release, fans will have to wait to see Letterier's final product when it finally arrives in cinemas on May 19, 2023.
