The Resident Evil 4 Remake is fast approaching, with the game expected to be released on March 24th, 2023. Whilst Capcom will likely leave this as a faithful remake, new information has been released concerning major improvements in graphics and character behavior. For example, the Brute is a new and exciting threat, which will be difficult to beat.
Who is The Brute?
The Brute is revealed to be a possible member of the Los Illuminados. Nakaoka explains that the intention to include a new strong character for Leon to face was to provide something different to the enemies in Valdelobos, Spain. Where dead animal heads are used as decorations, likely as a result of a religious ritual. Los Illuminados monks can also be seen wearing Goat Skulls.
The Brute looks more like a rabid animal on the loose than a human being, according to Nakaoka.
Symbolism of the Minotaur
The person's belief that wearing the Cow's head would increase their fighting chances or conceal their identity when they commit violent acts is perhaps the reason for the wearing of it. A Minotaur can be referred to in a Greek mythology tale where the Minotaur, a spawn of King Minos of Crete's wife, and an animal would be entrapped in a Labyrinth. Leon in this case must avoid the powerful Minotaur within.
Will The Brute Be a Regular Boss?
The Brute will likely appear throughout the game, although there is little evidence to suggest otherwise. As a powerful Boss that will be extremely difficult to defeat, it is unlikely that Capcom would introduce The Brute and immediately remove him after a single Boss Fight. The Brute will likely appear throughout, similar to Pyramid Head in Silent Hill.
The Brute has a massive hammer, similar to Executioner Majini in Resident Evil 5, and will likely tell a different story. One of which demonstrates the cult's delusions just by its appearance. The character choosing to wear a dead animal as a headpiece makes for a new experience unlike what we have previously seen in Resident Evil.
