The Gilded Age season 2 premiere date has been set; is September still on the way? ...

If you weren't aware, the past few days have ushered in quite a paradigm shift when it comes to Season 2 of The Gilded Age — or at the very least our expectations of it.

For the longest time, we anticipated that Julian Fellowes' period drama would be returning sometime in the spring, mostly for one reason: this is what made the most sense. Why would HBO wait longer than that?

All of this discussion came before we learned that season 2, which is most likely, will be put on hold until September, but there may be a reason for it, at least for the time being. Over the next few months, HBO Max may focus on some bigger-name shows; there's also the streaming element that makes the timeslots a bit less important in general.

When it comes to a season 2 premiere date, there is one thing we should remember: Nothing has been 100% locked-in necessarily. This is from actor Nathan Lane, who has not said anything in an official capacity. Everything may still be subject to change, and we think it's important to keep that in mind.

We have faith that The Gilded Age will be worth the wait. A little patience might go a long way!

Check out Nathan Lane's initial thoughts about season 2 coming in September.
