The journey to a third season of Ted Lasso has already been long, and that is something that we can say with all the confidence in the world. How can we not? At this point, we’re eager to see what else is revealed with Jason Sudeikis and the rest of the cast.
This is where things start to get super-confusing. Just think about it this spring, since Apple TV+ wants it to be eligible for the Emmys. Personally, we prefer it to be reinstated before May 1, mostly so that it can get some episodes in there for the Emmy campaign. Yet, the series' carefully-branded social media has kept things as quiet as anyone can.
What we're starting to wonder about at this point is this: Could the streaming service be doing a little different with its season 3 promo tour? The typical season 3 promo tour involves a premiere date a couple of months in advance, a trailer a few weeks later, and then interviews a couple of weeks before the premiere. With Ted Lasso, there is a possibility that all this will be reduced.
Sudeikis has a lot of time to devote to finishing the program in post-production, and you can argue that there will not be a lot of large season 3 publicity; at this point, that should be obvious. This is one of the most well-known comedies of this generation.
With a series that is so important, we'll have to wait and see if Apple TV+ will actually risk anything. But all of this is at least worth considering.
