The majority of Merlin Trials are straightforward to access, but the one in the Hogwarts Valley area can be confusing. Due to the huge inventory expansion and the increased gear capacity they offer, Merlin Trials are quite important to complete.
In Hogwarts Legacy, how do I complete the Goblin Camp Merlin Trial?
Before you can even attempt to tackle this Merlin Trial, you must first clear out the Goblin Camp that it is located inside. There are only four Goblins around, so you can either confront them all at once or sneak up to each one with the Disillusionment charm and take them out with Petrificus Totalus.
Because this Merlin Trial will require frequent use of Wingardium Leviosa, you'll need to have it also. At some point during this Merlin Trial, some kind of fiery spell, which may be Incendio or Confringo, will also be required to burn away some vines.
Once all of the goblins have been destroyed, you may enter the Merlin Trial in the middle. Place Mallowsweet on the Merlin Trial as usual, and it will become activated. Now, you will need three circular platforms around the camp, and three sets of five balls to place inside them.
Look for the enormous iron gate from the location of the Merlin Trial that you may approach and interact with. This gate does not require Alohomora, which means that any player may complete this trial as long as they have unlocked the correct spells to do so.
Five balls will levitate and follow you when you cast Wingardium Leviosa at them. Return out the gate and immediately look to the left where you will find a circular platform to place them in. Continue moving around the platform until all five balls have gone in and vines have grown over them to validate that this piece of the puzzle is complete.
The next platform is up the stairs to the left of the Merlin Trial. All five balls required for this trial are also close by and can be found on the platform of the gigantic mechanical machine in the corner. This machine is visible from the circular platform, and all players have to do is utilize Wingardium Leviosa once again to bring the balls back to the platform.
The last platform is the most difficult to locate. Head out the main entrance to the camp and turn right. Stick close to the wall, and you will eventually come across it. If you are unable to locate it, cast Revelio because this will clearly show where the platform is on the map.
After casting Incendio or Confringo, you'll need to locate the five balls. From the circular platform, turn and look to the left and you'll see a rock outcropping. Look up to this rock and see it from the other side. If you cast Revelio, you'll notice that the five balls you need are trapped under the vines that grow on the rock.
To get to them, simply walk past the vines and cast either Incendio or Confringo. Both of the fiery spells will melt away the vines, and players may then cast Wingardium Leviosa at the balls.
After you have the last five balls, return to the circular platform to place them. This circular platform is on a somewhat steep slope, so continue walking around until the balls snap into place.
This particular Merlin Trial can be a bit jarring because sometimes not all five balls will be placed at once, but if you wait they should eventually all make their way onto the platform as long as you have gotten at least one ball onto the platform themselves. You can also always use Revelio to check where the balls are and ensure that they are on the way to the circular platform.
