Hogwarts Legacy has a few side quests and quests that you may complete to sharpen your magic and strengthen your relationships with other players. Merlin Trials are one of the many activities you will discover throughout the highlands.
When searching for Merlin Trials, you must look for the leaf symbol on the map across all the different regions. If you have already been to that region before, make sure to keep it handy to come back and complete the trial later. Activities include collecting butterflies, rearranging boxes, lighting candles with fire spells, and others.
From the Challenges section in the game, you may track how many Merlin Trials you have completed.
In Hogwarts Legacy, here's how to solve all of the Hogsmeade Valley Merlin Trials.
In Hogwarts Legacy, where are the Hogsmeade Valley Merlin Trials located?
In Hogsmeade Valley, there are five Merlin Trials, each of which is marked with the leaf symbol. Three of them are located near East Hogsmeade Valley and Falbarton Castle, while one is located directly north of Hogsmeade, and the other is east of Hogsmeade Village. The best place to buy them is at the Magic Neep shop at Hogsmeade Village.
How to Solve the Merlin Trial North of Hogsmeade Village in Hogwarts Legacy
The first Merlin Trial is located north of Hogsmeade Village. Look for the yellow circle on the map above to see how far you are going. You can also use Confringo to break these stone slabs early in the game.
The first three stone slabs are located directly in front of the Merlin Trial stone dial. Using Revelio allows you to recognize the stone slabs as they begin glowing with a blue tinge.
The remaining two slabs are located just behind the Merlin Trial stone dial. See the image above for their locations.
In Hogwarts Legacy, how do I solve the Merlin Trial in East Hogsmeade Valley?
The East Hogsmeade Valley Floo Flame is located north of the East Hogsmeade Valley Floo Flame. See the yellow circle on the map image above for its location.
You may use any fire spell to light up the lamps in this Merlin Trial, including Incendio or Confringo. The first and second lamps are located north of the Merlin Trial at the yellow arrows above the image.
The third lamp is located on the left-hand side of the Merlin Trial stone dial.
In Hogwarts Legacy, how do I solve the Merlin Trial north of Falbarton Castle?
The next Merlin Trial will be held just north of Falbarton Castle. Check the yellow circle on the map image above to see the exact location of this challenge.
The circular object is located north of the Merlin Trail stone dial. You may use spells like Depulso, Wingaridium Leviosa, or the Basic Cast to move the stone ball down the valley toward the slot.
Your character will also fall down the valley, so make sure to keep the circular ball moving enough to allow it to begin rolling on its own.
In Hogwarts Legacy, how do you solve the Merlin Trail at Falbarton Castle?
The next Merlin Trial is located just north of the Falbarton Castle Floo Flame at the yellow arrow on the map image above. This Merlin Trial requires you to transport three groups of butterflies to three different stone pillars. Start the quest by using the Mallowsweet Leaves on the stone dial.
The first group of butterflies is found just in front of the Merlin Trial stone dial. Use Lumos to attract the butterflies and stand in front of one of the pillars to light it up.
The second set of butterflies is located on the southern side of the Merlin Trial stone dial.
The third group of butterflies is located just past the Merlin Trial stone dial. Jump inside and use Lumos to lure out the butterflies. Place them in front of the pillar to complete the Merlin Trial.
How do I solve the Merlin Trail east of Hogsmeade Village in Hogwarts Legacy?
The last Merlin Trial is east of Hogsmeade Village. Look for the yellow circle on the map image above to see where you'll find it. Once you've arrived, scatter the Mallowsweet Leaves on the stone dial to begin the trial.
Use Revelio to see the quest objects once the trial has begun. For this one, you'll also need to collect three groups of butterflies and place them near the stone pillars. Using Revelio highlights the interactable objects in the area with a blue tinge.
Use the Lumos spell to attract butterflies to the pillars, or cast a spell near the cave's entrance. You may encounter a couple of enemies here, but avoid them and take a right from the cave's entrance.
Bring these butterflies to the Merlin Trial and stand in front of each pillar. They will automatically interact with the pillars to light them up, and you'll complete this trial. This is how you can complete all five Hogsmeade Valley Merlin Trials in Hogwarts Legacy.
