Is PSVR 2 backwards compatible with PSVR 1 games? ...

Backward compatibility is still not guaranteed with consoles, especially with Sonys PlayStation. The PSVR 2 is the successor to the original PSVR and is one of the most powerful virtual reality headsets on the market.

Is the PSVR 2 Backwards compatible?

Hideaki Nishino, PlayStation's senior vice president of platform experiences, said the PSVR 2 is not backward compatible. Nishino elaborates that the PSVR 2 has improved hardware, including new features that were not included in the original PSVR.

According to Nishino, the games cannot be straight ported from the PSVR to the PSVR 2, as the titles would require a rework to function within the PSVR 2's specificities. We advise you to hold off if you wish to continue playing any of the games released on the original headset.

What else to know about the PSVR 2?

Multiple PSVR games are being developed, including Capcom's highly anticipated Resident Evil 4 Remake and Resident Evil Village, which will be released sometime in 2023, and Horizon Call of the Mountain, which was first announced alongside the PSVR 2 itself. The PSVR 2 headset will not work with computers, at least not at launch.
