Derek Jeter, a former New York Yankee shortstop, will join Fox Sports' MLB broadcast team on Sunday for the 2023 season.
Jeter will work alongside other MLB veterans, such as David Ortiz and onetime Yankees teammate Alex Rodriguez.
Jeter coached the Yankees to five championship rings during his 20-season career, from 1995 to 2014. He received numerous other honors throughout his career, including being named MVP of the 2000 World Series. He was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2020.
Jeter and his fellow Fox Sports broadcasters will be assigned to reporting on a particularly remarkable season. For the first time in modern league history, every single MLB team will compete against each other in 2023. (Typically, the game schedule skews toward divisional matches.)
Regular season games will begin on March 30, with spring training starting later this month.
Jeter said he's "hoping for a good game" and "trying to be politically correct." The announcement comes amid Fox's pre-season Super Bowl coverage on Sunday, which will be hosted by the network later in the evening.
