MaLeK takes on the role of strategic CS:GO coach for Evil Geniuses ...

After spending almost four months on the sidelines and his future in jeopardy, French CS:GO coach Damien maLeK Marcel has moved to a strategic coach position within Evil Geniuses today.

MaLeK was promoted to the EGs head coach in 2022, but he was placed on the inactive roster in May after the lineup led by Jake Stewie2K Yip failed to qualify for the inaugural Valve-sponsored event in the Antwerp Major. According to his former assistant coach Paolo EVY Berbudeau, they had a feud in the first round.

EG has undergone a number of changes since maLeKs' departure. Stewie2K left competitive CS:GO and moved to a streaming position, the organization promoted the former Party Astronauts and Carpe Diem lineups to try to assemble a fluid 15-man roster, and it revamped the main roster with the additions of Sanjar neaLaN Ishakov, Jadan HexT Postma, and head coach Daniel Vorborg.

maLeK has been reinstated in EG, so get out there and play with all three male CS:GO teams as well as the female team playing under the North American organization. The French coach has also worked with Envy and most recently G2.

maLeK commented that I'm so sorry to be away for a second; nonetheless, it helped me recharge and channel my energy for my next adventure. I'm looking forward to expressing myself fully and helping EG realize their potential.

The news of maLeKs' return comes just days before the EGs' main roster debut in the ESL Pro League season 16. Cloud9, FURIA, Team Liquid, Movistar Riders, and Eternal Fire are all in Group D. The matches will be played from Sept. 21 to 25.
