The first complete trailer for DC's The Flash has been released during the Super Bowl, and, surprisingly, the reactions have been quite favorable.
The film, set to release on June 16, 2023, will follow The Flash (Ezra Miller), who travels to another reality, meeting different versions of characters from the DC Universe, including an alternate version of himself. The trailer also included Michael Keaton's Batman and Sasha Calle's Supergirl.
James Gunn, one of the DCU's heads, took to Twitter to express his gratitude for the teaser, stating how much he loves the upcoming film. Based on all of the fans who have commented on the trailer, it appears like they will eventually agree with Gunn when the film is released.
One fan insurgently agreed with Gunn, claiming that the trailer was "insane." It was a near-perfect trailer, which seemed to give little away, while providing a fresh new perspective on the main characters.
Another Twitter user wrote, "The Flash film just topped my most anticipated movie of the year it genuinely looks GOOD." Now, that's a lot of writing when 2023 features engaging new releases like Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain Marvel, Ant-Man, Indiana Jones, Transformers, Fast X, etc., as well as original films like Cocaine Bear, and 65.
Another fan wrote, "THEY DID NOT HOLD BACK IN THE FLASH TRAILER." Between the different versions of Flash and Batman, the debut of Supergirl, and the return of General Zod, the positive reactions did not stop there.
Fans have been lauding Michael Keaton's return as the Caped Crusader, but also Affleck's return as the savior of Gotham. Of course, Affleck, who joined the DCU with Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, will not reprise his role as Batman in The Flash.
Keaton's Batman is still alive and well in the film. Fans were stunned by his performance in the second installment of Batman Returns in 1992, and were also stunned by how quickly he delivered justice in the manner only Batman can.
To say the film has been postponed is an understatement, as it has been in a ten-year hiatus of development following all the bad publicity it received in the wake of Ezra Miller's controversies. We'll find out when The Flash will be released on June 16, 2023.
