J.J. Abrams' Constantine Reboot Isn't Moving Forward at HBO Max

J.J. Abrams' Constantine Reboot Isn't Moving Forward at HBO Max ...

The HBO Max development purge is still going on.

The Constantine reboot, which was first put into production back in February 2021, was anticipated to have a wide cast.

Constantine's first appearance on the small screen was, of course, not going to be his first appearance on the small screen. Matt Ryan played the character on The CW's Legends of Tomorrow, a role he brought over from NBC's short-lived Constantine (20142015). On the big screen, Keanu Reeves played the title role in the 2005 film Constantine, which also included Rachel Weisz, Shia LaBeouf, and Tilda Swinton.

According to Variety, Warner Bros. is planning a sequel to Constantine, with Reeves expected to return. Abrams will serve as an EP on the follow-up.

HBO Maxs' development slate has been shattered by the Warner Bros. Discovery merger in recent months (here's a complete breakdown of all the projects that have been postponed).
