A New Karate Kid Film Is On The Way Following Cobra Kais' Success

A New Karate Kid Film Is On The Way Following Cobra Kais' Success ...

The first installment of The Karate Kid featuring Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan was released in 2010, but the original incarnation of the franchise hasnt had a theatrical presence since 1994's The Next Karate Kid. However, the universe has been getting a lot of attention in recent years through Cobra Kai, the show that originally premiered on YouTube and is now available to stream with a Netflix subscription.

The new Karate Kid film is expected to be released on June 7, 2024 by Sony Pictures, the only other piece of information about the project is that it is the return of the original Karate Kid franchise, indicating that this will be set in the same direction as the original Karate Kid films and Cobra Kai. This date previously belonged to an Untitled Sony/Marvel Universe film, which has now been moved to July 12.

It's interesting that Sony has chosen to continue the Karate Kid story on two fronts by releasing a new Karate Kid movie to the general public? Is this next Karate Kid film intended to begin a new story centered on existing characters while Cobra Kai continues on Netflix?

In the meantime, for those of you who haven't heard about Cobra Kai, keep an eye on all five seasons and keep an eye on any news about Season 6 you may like to see in our 2022 movie schedule and 2023 movie schedule.
