The makers of Anime Fighters Simulator (AFS) have announced the end of their year of development on the Roblox platform. On September 14, 2022, Roblox developer daireb announced on Twitter and Discord that the program would remain open, but that regular updates would no longer be released.
Daireb states in his public statement that while he wants to keep up with AFS, the decision to stop updates was out of his control and resulted from "internal issues with the team" that made continuing the updates unfavorable.
I'm sorry to say that Anime Fighters will no longer receive regular updates. This is due to internal issues within the team, which I'm afraid is completely out of my control. I'd like to continue updating, but unfortunately that's not the case. There may be updates at some point in the future, but they won't be coming [as] frequently as before.
Daireb addressed his development team with a longer message, according to another tweet from jaymlIks. He thanked the players, testers, staff, administrators, and others on his team for collaborating to make AFS a success.

Hundreds of players have posted their thoughts on the situation on Twitter since the news was published, with some criticizing daireb for being a poor manager and team member, while others praising him for his openness.
"I'm still working on becoming the strongest in Anime Fighters, but I promise that in your next games, I'll be the strongest," said user Pietro Jibsqi. "I'm sorry for what's happening in Anime Fighters, it's and will always be my favorite game."
"I'm still kind of sad that I put so much Robux into AFS [just] for it to end so soon, but it was still a great experience," said another user, @D4rkssOfficial. "It's definitely one of the best games I've ever played on Roblox!"
User @TheSeamanNFT responding to this comment, saying, "You all got the money you wanted and that's all." Then user @BigDripBigSauce retaliates, saying, "You all got the money you wanted and that's that." Definitely not going to play anything related to you guys again.
daireb quoted a video on Twitter of a Robloxian on a hoverboard with the caption "New game soon?" This has prompted many users to believe that daireb is moving away from AFS to pursue other interests, not because of any alleged "internal issues."
