Warzone Playlist Update: Game Modes Explained

Some of Warzone's game modes are only available for a limited time, and will be terminated to return at a later point in the season or even the next season. Let's go!

The Vanguard Plunder mode is basically the same as the well-known Plunder mode. You land on the map and must immediately try to collect as much cash as you can. The biggest difference to the regular Plunder mode is that you have to follow the Vanguard guidelines. As in Vanguard Royale, you may only use weapons and equipment from Vanguard.

Vanguard Royal takes place on Caldera and works much like Battle Royale, except players can only use Vanguard's weapons and equipment. Fighter planes and anti-aircraft guns are also available. There are also minor changes, such as the fact that loadout drops can only be purchased after the first public event.

Resurgence is played mostly on Rebirth Island, and is one of Warzone's most action-packed modes. You may respawn as long as one of your squadmates is still alive. If you die, you must wait for a Rebirth Countdown to expire. That countdown reduces every time your teammates kill or complete a contract.

There is no Gulag in Warzone buy-back, although if you have $4500 in the pocket, you will automatically redeploy when you're killed. This holds until the conclusion of the fourth round, at which point you no longer have to redeploy even if you have enough cash.

Mini Royale is a Battle Royale, but it's smaller. It's limited to 78 players, has a smaller starting area, faster closing circles, and the Gulag is only closed after the first five minutes of the match. As a result, the whole match of Mini Royale will only last 15 minutes.

Everything revolves around money! Play as much cash as you can and earn it. In this game mode, players start with their own premade loadouts and can respawn as much as they want. If no team can hit the 1 million mark before the end of the match, the team with the most cash wins.

Clash is a huge 50v50-deathmatch mode that can be played anywhere on the Warzone Map (e.g. the Port area or Downtown). Players drop in with their loadouts and can respawn indefinitely. Apart from killing, players can also complete contracts and earn powerups from defeated enemies.

Iron Trials is one of the more interesting modes in Warzone. It is a sweaty version of the normal Battle Royale mode, but it has some minor changes. For example, sniper rifles can only defeat enemies with one shot if they are within 30 meters of the target. The stun duration of stun grenades is reduced by 50%.

Payload is a gameplay mechanic that you will likely know from Overwatch. The attacking team has to lead a truck convoy to its final destination, while the defending team has to prevent that from happening. Players drop in with their loadouts and can respawn indefinitely. Truck convoys only move as long as at least one player is within the escort perimeter.

Scopes and Scatterguns are akin to Resurgence in that you may spawn indefinitely as long as your teammates are alive... Also, you can't buy loadouts at a Buy Station... The starting pistol right now is the Marshal, a mix between a pistol and a shotgun.

Death and Taxes is a limited-time mode that follows the standard BR ruleset with a twist. However, we don't lose money when we lose a Gulag, even if a player goes to the Gulag once more after a buyback.
