Long-time Wordle followers should not have a lot of trouble figuring out the correct word for the puzzle on most days. For example, the word of the day might be an unusual combination of several very common letters, which will make you scold even after finding a couple of letters from the answer.
If the letters you've found today, as yet, are a starting P and a finishing R, check out the list below for some ideas, as well as the accompanying handout for an analysis of all your current choices.
To try Wordle, use five-letter words starting with P and ending in R.
The second letter is almost always a vowel in this case, and the fourth is almost always a consonant E in this case. That means you may be really close to the answer but still far from it, trapped between a few similar choices that only change one letter between them. The one thing you can do to avoid losing your streak is to analyze your previous guess.
Start by removing all words that you know arent suitable, such as those that came out gray and yellow before. Try a word like RACKS if youre stuck between PUCER, PUKER, and PURER, but you can still use the same concept, including the likely repeated letter exactly where it would appear if it were to be repeated (in this case, the P would need to be in the middle).
If youre still unsure and don't want to wait until Wordle resets at midnight local time, you can always look up the answer to today's puzzle (which we update around 12am CT).
